October 17 online: Green Paper on Citizen Science Workshop

Socientize opens to Individuals and institutions an OnLIne Workshop to all people interested or involved in Citizen Science to participate in the elaboration of a Green Paper on Citizen Science. Please take the opportunity to contribute and share your work and experiences! We are compiling policy recommendations related with citizens' engagement in science by collecting feedback and suggestions from the diverse stakeholders involved, like volunteers, researchers, infrastructure providers, scientific organizations, communicators, innovators, journalists, educational experts and artists.

Socientize experiments presented in Vienna Science Festival

Our partner Zentrum fur die Sozial Innovation, ZSI, has been present at the Vienna Science Festival, Wienner Forschungsfest, during week-end 13-15th september. They run four workstations to show Citizen Science to the general public with these esperiments: 1 Galaxyzoo, 1 Snapshot Serengeti, 1 Smart City Mindpath, 1 Seafloor Explorer.

Workshops with teachers in Portugal

9th september was the first workshop for teachers where the project and specifically the Cell Spotting application was presented to a group of 11 biology teachers of Escola Secundária José Falcão (Coimbra, Portugal). It went really well and all the teachers react with enthusiasm and excitement! Something that I realized when they were trying the Cell Spotting application is that the magnifier would be very useful if it could be implemented on.

Socientize at the London Royal Society

e-Research South organised a workshop on Citizen Science at the Royal Society, London, last 13th September 2013. It features speakers from projects such as Galaxy Zoo and ClimatePrediction.net, and participation of Socientize in a speak presented by Eduardo Lostal.
